Caisse gets "superior performance" from move to direct PE deals

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec saw net assets total $225.9 billion in 2014, increasing by $74.2 billion over four years. The Caisse also reported a 12 percent year-over-year return in 2014, with all major asset classes contributing to overall performance. Less-liquid portfolio assets generated 12.7 percent over four years, outperforming other portfolios. The Caisse also said it gained "superior performance" from a long-term re-weighting of its private equity portfolio from external funds to direct investments. Over four years, private equity showed a 13 percent return, and in 2014 showed a 12.1 percent return. This performance exceeds the long-term target return, the Caisse said.
