Carbonite to buy VC-backed Webroot for $618.5 mln

Carbonite, a cloud-based data protection provider, has agreed to acquire Webroot, a cybersecurity company. The price of the acquisition is $618.5 million. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019. RBC Capital Market LLC is providing financial advice to Carbonite on the transaction while Barclays did likewise for Carbonite. Webroot is backed by Accel, Mayfield Fund and TCV, according to Crunchbase.
