Carlyle Group carving out Illinois Tool Works unit in $3.2 Bln deal

Illinois Tool Works Inc has agreed to sell its industrial packaging unit (IPG) to Carlyle Group LP for $3.2 billion, beating out a rival bid from Onex Corp in the final stretch of the auction, according to a company statement and a report by sister news service Reuters.
