Connecticut-based Centerview Capital has hired Brian Ratzan, former head of private equity at Pamplona Capital Management, as a partner.
In his new role, Ratzan will focus on consumer private equity in the US. He leaves London-based Pamplona after just over two years with the firm, which he joined in January 2012 to to head the expansion of its private equity business to the US. Prior to working at Pamplona, Ratzan was a managing director at Vestar Capital Partners, where he first met and worked with Centerview co-founder and partner David Hooper. Raztan will work on Centerview’s Consumer Fund, which focuses exclusively on US consumer investments.
“We have worked with Brian for many years on several significant transactions, most recently Big Heart Pet Brands, formerly known as Del Monte Foods,” Hooper said in a statement.
Centerview’s consumer investments include The Nielsen Company, Big Heart Pet Brands (formerly Del Monte Foods), Richelieu Foods and Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine. The firm has $500 million in committed capital focusing on US consumer investments.
Centerview Capital also operates a technology fund based in San Francisco, California. The firm launched the Centerview Capital Technology Fund last June and is targeting $500 million, according to Private Equity International’s Research and Analytics division.
