CMBS offers cheaper financing option

Highly leveraged US borrowers with considerable real estate holdings are increasingly turning to CMBS for cheaper financing. The trend is not yet as established in Europe, but last year’s recapitalisation of Land Securities illustrates how European issuers can use CMBS to break the vicious cycle of extra gearing and ratings deterioration as well.
