CSFB replaces Quella with operating three

Private equity group DLJ Merchant Banking has hired three new operating executives, Ron Beegle, James Finkelstein and Larry Pickering, to fill a void left by the departure of operating head James Quella for Blackstone.

CSFB Private Equity announced the appointment of three new operating executives to its DLJ Merchant Banking Partners platform – Ron Beelge, James Finkelstein and Larry Pickering.

The three fill an operating void left by James Quella, who quit CSFB last month to head up portfolio company monitoring at New York’s The Blackstone Group.

Beegle will be DLJ Merchant Banking’s chairman of the retail and consumer group. Beegle was most recently senior vice president at Banana Republic, a Gap company.

‘Jimmy’ Finkelstein will be chairman of the media group. He was president and CEO of the National Law Publishing Company for 19 years. More recently Finkelstein was president of Marquis Who’s Who. He has worked with private equity firms DB Capital Partners (now MidOcean) and Veronis Suhler & Stevenson.

Pickering will lead the healthcare group. He spent 32 years at Johnson & Johnson.

At DLJ Merchant Banking, Quella was responsible for the oversight of the firm’s portfolio companies, including board representation and the responsibility for operating performance and portfolio company management.

Quella joined DLJ in 2000, just prior to its merger with CSFB. Quella previously was vice chairman of Mercer Management Consulting and a director of Mercer Consulting Group, a subsidiary of Marsh McClennan Companies.
