DB Capital Venture Partners hires new MD

The group takes William Burgess on board to manage its private equity investments.

DB Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Deutsche Bank, has appointed William Burgess as managing director of DB Capital Venture Partners, the group's venture capital unit.

Previously Burgess served as vice-chairman of global corporate finance for Deutsche Bank. Prior to that he was global co-head of investment banking at the Industry Groups for Banker's Trust and Deutsche Bank and head of the Technology Investment Banking Group.

In his latest role Burgess will be responsible for a number of Deutsche Bank private equity investments, and he will be look to make investments in software, infrastructure and communications technology companies.

In November, DB Capital Partners took sole control of Deutsche Bank’s entire private equity business and Burgess is the latest appointment in a number the group has made as part of its plans to expand its private equity services. The group recently hired Fritz Seikovsky as head of its Frankfurt office, and also made Charles Flynn a head of fund investing.

DB Capital Venture Partners targets early stage companies in the US, Europe and Israel. It invests up to $25m (€28m) in companies in the technology, telecommunications and healthcare services and devices sectors.
