Nuvei said Aug. 14 that it closed its buy of SafeCharge International Group Ltd for $889 million. SafeCharge, of the U.K., is a payments company. Nuvei is backed by Novacap and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. The deal was announced in May.

Mercer Global Advisors Inc, a portfolio company of Genstar Capital, said Aug. 14 that it acquired Regent Wealth Management Group Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. Regent Wealth, of Woodbridge, Connecticut, is a wealth management RIA that serves about 110 high net worth households with assets under management of approximately $300 million.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Petershill program has made an investment in Slate Asset Management LP, an alternative asset management platform with a focus on real estate and real assets. No financial terms were disclosed. As part of the deal, Slate founders Blair and Brady Welch have made a long-term commitment to the business. According to the firm, Slate has closed over US$11 billion of transactions across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Slate has offices in Toronto, Calgary, Chicago and Frankfurt.
