Rajiv Dutta, the former executive vice president of eBay and president of eBay Marketplaces, has become a managing director at Menlo Park-based Elevation Partners.
Dutta spent a decade with eBay, for which he has also been the chief financial officer. Before that he was an executive with PayPal and Skype. Dutta was “the youngest MBA graduate in the. . . history” of Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, according to a statement.
Elevation was founded by a team of technology and media luminaries, including Apple executive Fred Anderson; Silver Lake partner Marc Bodnick; Bret Pearlman, a partner at The Blackstone Group; venture capitalist Roger McNamee; and U2 singer Bono. Its head of investor relations and fundraising is Kevin Albert, the founder of Merrill Lynch’s once-dominant fund placement business.
Dutta is currently on the board of directors of Palm, the handheld device maker and Elevation portfolio company. He is also a board member of Jamdat, a mobile gaming company sold to gaming giant Electronic Arts. Electronic Arts is led by John Riccitiello, who was a founding partner of Elevation until 2007 when he quit to rejoin the gaming company.
“I have known Rajiv and worked closely with him at eBay for many years,” Anderson said in a statement.
