Edison Partners, Georgian Partners lead $27 mln funding of eSentire

Canadian cybersecurity platform eSentire Inc has secured about $27 million (US$19.5 million) in financing. The round was led by U.S. venture capital firm Edison Partners and Canada's Georgian Partners, which led eSentire's $14 million Series C financing in 2014. Cisco Investments, Northleaf Ventures Catalyst Fund and Information Venture Partners also participated. Cambridge, Ontario-based eSentire plans to use the funds to scale its market presence, launch security operations in new geographies and verticals, and build on its growth in the cloud-based threat intelligence space. Last year, the company opened its European headquarters. It said it will expand in the region over the next five years.
