Former governor of the state of New York George Pataki has joined private equity firm MidOcean Partners’ executive board.
In his first foray into private equity, the Republican governor will help support the New York-based firm’s investment professionals and provide counseling to MidOcean’s portfolio companies. Pataki served three terms as governor from 1995 through 2006.
Prior to joining MidOcean, Pataki worked in the environmental, energy and corporate practice of law firm Chadbourne and Parke.
A moderate conservative who many once considered a future presidential hopeful, Pataki has already been selected for the board of directors of MidOcean portfolio company OneLink Communications. OneLink is a Puerto Rico-based cable services provider which MidOcean purchased in 2005.
Pataki is the highest profile addition to MidOcean’s executive board, which includes former Time Warner cable chairman and chief executive Joseph Collins and former Continental Bank head Thomas Theobold.
Middle market specialist MidOcean targets the consumer and leisure, media and communications, business and financial services sectors. The firm, headed by former Deutsche Bank executive Ted Virtue, raised $1.33 billion last year for its latest buyout fund.
