Francisco Partners to buy majority of Comodo CA

Francisco Partners said Oct. 31 that it acquired a majority stake in Comodo’s certificate authority business, Comodo CA Ltd. Financial terms weren’t announced. Comoda CA provides SSL certificates. Bill Holtz, the former COO of Entrust, is joining the company as CEO. Melih Abdulhayoglu, who is also a founding member of the CA/Browser Forum, will retain an ownership stake and remain a board observer of Comodo CA.
