Gaming Company Kixeye Nabs $18M

Kixeye has raised $18 million to expand its social gaming business, bolster its staff and build additional game titles. Jafco Ventures was the lead investor in the Series C round. Previous investors Trinity Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners also joined in the funding. The company says it has been profitable and cash-flow positive for the past eight months, and that new funds will be used for growth. Joe Horowitz, managing general partner of Jafco, will join Kixeye’s board. San Francisco-based Kixeye was started in 2007 – then called Casual Collective. The company’s games include Backyard Monsters, Battle Pirates and Desktop Tower Defense.
