Gresham hires former E&Y advisor

The UK mid-market firm has hired Dan Hatcher, a former M&A advisor at Ernst & Young who has worked with Gresham on secondment since May 2007.

Dan Hatcher has left accountants Ernst & Young to join the London-based investment team at Gresham as an investment partner.

He has been working for the UK mid-market firm since May 2007 on secondment from Ernst & Young. He was part of the deal team that worked on the firm’s £110 million purchase of toothpaste maker Betts Global from a Permira-anchored consortium in October 2007.

“Dan has made a fantastic contribution over the past 12 months, in what has been a record new investment period for Gresham, and has established himself as a key member of the Gresham investment team,”  Christian Bruning, a Gresham partner, said in a statement.

At Ernst & Young, Hatcher spent six years on the lead mergers and acquisitions advisory team and worked on mid-market deals including the sale of GE Commercial Aviation Training to Star Capital and the acquisition of Aspen Pumps by Inflexion Private Equity.

Gresham recently paid £82.5 million ($164 million; €104 million) for Johnson Clothing, a company it has previously owned, as its parent company sought deleverage.
