IK hires veteran operating partner

Johan Van de Steen has joined the firm after stints at KKR, SVP and Vision Capital.

IK Investment Partners has appointed Johan Van de Steen as an operating partner to lead its strategy, operations and business control team.

Van de Steen has joined IK after two years as head of portfolio at Renova Management, a Zurich-based private business and investment group.

Prior to Renova, Van de Steen was a senior operating director at distressed investor Strategic Value Partners, where he spent one year and led the firm’s European operating team. He joined SVP after five years at European and US mid-market investor Vision Capital.

“Johan has a unique background with an exceptional toolkit of operational skills, a vast network of industrial contacts and a firm command of several European languages. As such, he is particularly well fitted to contribute to IK’s active ownership model. We are looking forward to taking a further step in sharpening our firm’s operational skill set,” Christopher Masek, chief executive of IK Investment Partners, said.

Van de Steen is one of the founding European team members of KKR Capstone, an independently managed arm of KKR which focuses on portfolio company operational improvements.

IK is currently investing its debut small-cap €277 million fund and its eighth flagship fund, a €1.8 billion vehicle. Last month the firm opened a new office in Amsterdam and said it was looking to add new investment professionals.
