ISIS pays $10m for TVC

The lower mid-market remains active, with ISIS acquiring digital PR and specialist broadcaster TVC.

ISIS Equity Partners has completed the buyout of The Television Consultancy (TVC), a specialist broadcast and digital PR agency, for £10 million (€13 million; $20 million). It is investing funds from four of the firm’s Baronsmead VCTs, which it manages.

Elaine Stern, currently chief executive officer of TVC, founded the company in 1998 with managing director Nicky Minter-Green.  The investment will support the expansion of TVC’s digital department and the DNA, its digital news agency.

ISIS was introduced to TVC by corporate finance advisers Livingstone Partners.

“In TVC we are backing a leader in the fast growing area of Broadcast and Digital PR,” said Paul Morris, who lead the deal for ISIS.

Last week Candover’s private equity barometer reported that both the number and size of deals at the small-cap end of the private equity market, defined as deals worth less than €160 million (£127 million), had increased by 14 and 17 percent respectively. This is ISIS’s seventh investment in 2008.
