Kleiner Perkins brings on COO

The Silicon Valley-based venture firm has hired the former CEO of enterprise software company Movaris to bulk up the firm’s supply of financial and operational expertise.

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers has hired Eric Keller as chief operating officer.

As COO, Keller will offer both financial and operational expertise to the firm and its entrepreneurs in the greentech, digital and life science technologies sectors, the firm said in a statement.

Keller was previously chief executive officer of Movaris, an enterprise software company providing financial governance applications. In February, Movaris merged with software company Trintech Group.

Prior to joining Movaris, Keller was chief financial officer at various companies, including Ventritex, a medical device company, Corio, an application services provider, business communications company Aspect Communication and scientific instrument firm Dionex.

In May, Silicon Valley-based venture firm Kleiner Perkins closed its 13th global fund on $700 million for investment in greentech, information technology and life sciences and a $500 million green growth fund focused exclusively on greentech.

Two months earlier, the firm teamed up with iPhone maker Apple to launch the $100 million “iFund” backing companies building applications, services and components for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch platforms.
