LDC lures merchant bank founder

After losing Richard Swann to rival mid-market firm Inflexion in October, the private equity arm of British bank Lloyds TSB has hired Hemisphere co-founder Daniel Sasaki as a director in its London office.

Lloyds TSB Development Capital has appointed Daniel Sasaki as a director to focus on investments in the telecoms, media and technology sectors in London.
Sasaki co-founded Hemisphere Capital, an independent merchant bank which focuses on growth transactions, in 2002. As managing partner at the bank he provided clients with M&A advice, capital raising and business development services.
LDC is strengthening its London team to take advantage of local “re-priced opportunities” as a result of the current market turmoil, according to managing director of LDC London, Peter Brooks.
A month ago LDC’s London office lost Richard Swann, an investment director since 2005, to UK mid-market competitor Inflexion Capital.
LDC has 12 offices around the UK and focuses mainly on businesses in the support services sector.
