Nexus hires Indian media veteran

The early-stage investor will be advised by former Times of India director Pradeep Guha as it deploys its $220m Fund II.

Before joining the firm, Guha was chief executive of Zee Network, India’s largest integrated media and entertainment company, according to its website. Prior to that, he was president and director of the country’s leading English daily newspaper Times of India.

Guha will work with the firm's portfolio companies and also help to source investment opportunities in the media and entertainment sectors.

In July 2008, the firm closed Nexus India Capital II on $220 million. The fund invests up to $10 million per deal in the consumer services, business services, technology, clean technology and media sectors.

Nexus India Capital I, which closed on $100 million in July 2007, has been fully invested, a source said.

The firm has five investment professionals in its Mumbai office. It also has an office in Menlo Park, California.
