Permira acquires Metalogix

The investment comes from Permira’s latest vehicle

Permira has acquired Metalogix a provider of management tools for collaboration platforms including Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange and Office 365. Permira is acquiring the company from Insight Venture Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners.

Sources familiar with the transaction say the investment came from Permira’s latest vehicle, which closed on the €5.3 billion hard-cap in June.

Permira declined to comment on the deal.

Members of Metalogix’s senior management team, including chief executive officer Steven Murphy, will maintain a significant equity stake in the company going forward.

The acquisition was led from Permira’s growing Menlo Park office which focuses on later stage technology investments. As PEI reported in May, Permira promoted Brian Ruder to global co-head of the TMT team to lead those efforts. Ruder has been involved in a number of Permira’s recent tech and media deals including Ancestry.com, All3Media, LegalZoom, Renaissance Learning and TeamViewer. The firm is also planning to expand his Menlo Park team.

Upon closing, Permira’s Brian Ruder and Ryan Lanpher will join Metalogix’s Operating Committee. The transaction is expected to close by the end of this year.

Union Square Advisors served as the exclusive financial advisor to the Permira funds on the transaction.
