Macquarie Funds Group, the asset management arm of Australia’s Macquarie Group, has made two new appointments to its private equity division. These include Mike Siebert, who joins Macquarie’s Munich office from the Sydney office of alternative assets manager Partners Group.
Macquarie Funds Group has appointed Mike Siebert and Brenden Woods as portfolio managers in its private equity division, which offers a range of funds of funds specialising in areas such as infrastructure, Asia and clean technology.
The firm’s head of private equity Michael Lukin said Siebert and Woods “will focus on continuing to build out our European capability in particular in the European infrastructure market”. Siebert and Woods, who will be based in Munich and London respectively, will both become members of Macquarie’s private equity investment committee.
Siebert was most recently with Partners Group, the Zug, Switzerland-based alternative assets manager. He joined the firm’s new Sydney office in April 2008, having previously been based in Partners’ Singapore office since 2004 and spent eight years with the firm altogether.
Woods joined Macquarie in 2006 as part of Macquarie Capital’s infrastructure funds division. Most recently he was chief operating officer for Macquarie Capital’s funds management business in India. A statement announcing the appointments said Woods would “focus on investment and capital raising for infrastructure globally, with particular emphasis on Europe”.
The two new additions bring the size of Macquarie’s private equity team to 28 investment professionals, located in Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, Munich and San Diego County.
