SVB Capital adds two partners(3)

SVB Capital has hired John Dominguez of Hill Capital Management and Vincent Williams of Northern Trust Global Investments to expand its private equity programme.

SVB Capital, the private equity arm of SVB Financial Group, has hired two new partners, John Dominguez and Vincent Williams, to expand the firm’s investor base and private equity product offerings.

Dominguez was previously manager of Hall Capital Management’s private equity group. Before, he was a founder and managing director of PrivateTrade, an internet exchange for private equity secondaries trading, as well as director of alternative investments for the Public Employees’ Retirement Association of Colorado.

At SVB, Dominguez will work primarily in the firm’s fund of funds business, where he will broaden the firm’s focus to include later-stage private equity, growth capital and buyouts, said SVB chief financial officer Anne Rockhold.

“We can’t talk about any upcoming funds, but we have seen our fund of funds expanding from the venture capital arena into the growth equity area,” Rockhold said.

Williams was most recently a managing director of institutional sales at Northern Trust Global Investments. Before, he was director of public funds at Victory Capital Management and a senior vice president at Mesirow Financial.

Williams will work in both direct investments and fund of funds at SVB. He will be responsible for product development as well as fundraising. Previously, SVB’s investor base was primarily composed of endowments and foundations, Rockhold said. Williams will leverage his industry contacts to work primarily with corporate and public pension plans.

SVB is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and has 27 US offices in addition to locations in India, China and the UK. Its family of funds exceeds $1 billion (€710 million).
