The 2003 North American Private Equity Awards

Blackstone, Sequoia, Carlyle, CD&R and Texas Pacific are among the winners of PEO's inaugural North American Private Equity Awards.

The most authoritative annual awards in the industry. Why? Because the winners were selected by you. No short list, no judges – just thousands of individual votes from private equity professionals all over the world.

Now in its fourth year, the awards jointly sponsored by PrivateEquityOnline and sister magazine Private Equity International have added a major new category – namely, North America.

Earlier this year, Private Equity International opened an office in New York and launched an American edition of the magazine. We thought it entirely appropriate to expand the scope of the annual awards to better reflect our global readership and editorial reach.

The Private Equity Awards are the most authoritative in the industry for two important reasons. First, winners are chosen by our readers – serious private equity professionals at firms all over the world. This most recent round of awards received more than 20,000 votes. Second, we don’t play “Jedi mind tricks” with short lists. In other words, voters write in the name of their selected firm or person into a blank field, instead of choosing from a list of names. The firm or person with the most votes wins. Simple but, we believe, substantive.

And so, our warmest congratulations to this year’s North American Private Equity Award winners.
