UK bookmaker draws interest

Ladbrokes, the bookmaker division of Hilton Group in the UK, has received indications of interest from private equity firms for a buyout that could be worth £3.5bn (€5.1 bn; $6bn).

Amid discussion to sell its international hotels business, Hilton Group, the listed UK company, has confirmed that private equity firms are now circling its bookmaking division, Ladbrokes.

The deal could reportedly be worth £3.5 billion (€5.1 billion; $6 billion), according to reports.

Hilton Group is currently negotiating with its US counterpart, Hilton Hotels Corporation, to sell Hilton International, a hotel business, for £3.2 billion.

According to reports, private equity firms CVC Capital Partners, BC Partners and The Blackstone Group have expressed interest in the bookmaker. Reports indicate that Hilton Group is not likely to pursue these offers until the sale of the hotels business is complete.
