Jan Cotta has joined VCM Venture Capital Management, the Munich-based fund of funds management group, as a managing director and head of institutional marketing and client relationships.
Cotta, 44, spent 13 years as an investment banker in the UK and Germany with, among others, Schroders and Barclays de Zoete Wedd. He has also had spells as a partner at pan-European mid-market buyout firm EAC European Acquisition Capital in London, and as a founding partner of Truffles Capital, a Munich-based private equity advisory firm.
“We are very pleased to have won such an experienced partner for our team. Together with him, we will expand our institutional investor base in Germany and abroad,” said Dr Hellmut Kirchner, founding partner of VCM.
Founded in 1991, VCM manages more than €1 billion of capital of capital commitments on behalf of private and institutional investors. It channels the money into buyout and venture capital funds in the US, Europe and Asia.
In December last year, VCM was named as an investor Wellington Partners III technology fund, a fund being raised by Munich-based early-stage venture capital firm Wellington Partners. The fund raised €85 million at its first closing, and has a final target of €120 million.
