Pitango Venture Capital names new GP

Pitango Venture Capital has appointed Dr. Guy Ezekiel as a general partner. Previously, he was a venture partner at Pitango. Prior to joining the Israeli venture firm, Ezekiel was president and CEO of Brainsway.

Lerer Hippeau has raised a $60.6 million second “select fund” for follow-on investments in addition to its recent $122 million sixth fund, according to regulatory filings.

Columbus, Ohio-based PriorAuthNow, a platform for connecting the healthcare landscape using automated prior authorization solutions, has raised $10.5 million in Series A funding. BIP Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included NCT Ventures and Detroit Venture Partners.

OspreyData nabs $5 mln Series A

Houston, Texas and Orange County, California-based OspreyData, a provider of machine-learning-based predictive analytics platform for the oil and gas sector, has secured $5 million in Series A financing. Houston Ventures led the round.

Simpleinsurance rakes in $24 mln Series C

Berlin-based Simpleinsurance, a smart insurance services platform provider, has secured $24 million in Series C funding. Allianz was the lead investor with participation from other investors that included Rheingau Founders and Rakuten Capital. Drake Star Partners was the financial adviser to Simplesurance on the transaction.

MemSQL raises $30 million from GV, Glynn Capital, Accel, Caffeinated Capital, Data Collective, IA Ventures

MemSQL said it raised $30 million of Series D capital in a round backed by new investors GV and Glynn Capital, and joined by existing investors, Accel, Caffeinated Capital, Data Collective, and IA Ventures.

BrainQ procures $8.8 mln

BrainQ, an Israeli digital therapeutics company, has raised $8.8 million in funding. The investors included Qure Ventures, OurCrowd.com, Norma Investments and IT-Farm.

Silverton wraps up fifth fund at $108 mln

Austin-based Silverton Partners has closed its fifth fund at $108 million. Among the companies Silverton have backed include Convio, WP Engine, SpareFoot, SailPoint, Silicon Labs, TurnKey, Restream.io and SourceDay.
