Red Balloon Security picks up $21.9 mln Series A

Red Balloon Security, a provider of embedded device security solutions, has secured $21.9 million in Series A funding. Bain Capital Ventures led the round with participation from Greycroft, American Family Ventures and Abstract Ventures.

6 River Systems hauls in $25 mln Series B

Waltham, Massachusetts-based 6 River Systems Inc, a collaborative fulfillment solution, has secured $25 million in Series B financing. Menlo Ventures led the round with participation from previous backers including Norwest Venture Partners, Eclipse Ventures and iRobot.

Poseida Therapeutics snags $30.5 mln Series B

San Diego-based Poseida Therapeutics Inc, which translates gene engineering technologies into cell therapies, has raised $30.5 million in Series B financing. Longitude Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Vivo Capital, the Tavistock Group and Malin Corporation plc. In conjunction with the financing, Dr. David Hirsch, a managing director at Longitude Capital, has joined Poseida’s board of directors.

Firebrand Ventures collects $17.7 mln for Midwest fund

Firebrand Ventures has closed its new fund at $17.7 million, beating its $7 million target, according to an announcement on its site. The Kansas City, Missouri-based venture firm invests in startups in the Greater Midwest.

Virta Health fetches $45 mln Series B

San Francisco-based Virta Health, an online specialty clinic that treats type 2 diabetes, has raised $45 million in Series B funding. The investors included Venrock, Obvious Ventures, Creandum, Caffeinated Capital, SciFi VC, Founders Fund and Playground Global.

European design brand MADE.COM inks funding

European design brand MADE.COM has secured 40 million pounds in funding. The investors included Partech Ventures, Level Equity and Eight Roads Ventures, a subsidiary of Fidelity.

Qmerit grabs $11.75 mln

Qmerit, a provider of cloud-based MRO supply chain solutions, has raised $11.75 million in funding. The investors included Strandview Capital, Schneider Electric and Innogy Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Kevin Covert from Strandview and Heriberto Diarte from Schneider Electric will join Qmerit’s board of directors.

VC-backed Inbox Health taps Gamble as COO

New Haven, Connecticut-based Inbox Health Inc, a patient billing and payments startup, has named Charles Gamble as chief operating officer. Gamble is the founder of Tangoe. Inbox Health's backers include Connecticut Innovations, Launch Capital, Enhanced Capital, I2BF Global Ventures and Mohawk Ventures.

TTV Capital backs Micronotes

Boston-based Micronotes, a cloud-based interview marketing company for financial institutions, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series B funding. TTV Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Vestigo Ventures.

Nextech Invest leads Series C round for Arvinas

New Haven, Connecticut-based Arvinas LLC, a developer of drugs based on protein degradation, has raised $55 million in Series C financing. Nextech Invest led the round with participation from other investors that included Deerfield Management, Hillhouse Capital, Sirona Capital, Canaan Partners, 5AM Ventures, RA Capital Management, OrbiMed and New Leaf Venture Partners. In addition to the funding, Dr. Jakob Loven, a partner at Nextech Invest, will join the Arvinas board of directors.
