VC-backed twoXAR adds new SVP to team

Mountain View, California-based twoXAR Inc, an artificial intelligence-driven biopharmaceutical company, has appointed Dr. Allen Poirson as senior vice president of biopharmaceutical business development. Poirson is the former CEO of Sony Biotechnology. TwoXAR's backers included SoftBank Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, OS Fund, CLI Ventures and the Stanford-StartX Fund.

Fieldwire raises $33.5 mln for construction tech, led by Menlo Ventures

San Francisco-based Fieldwire, a provider of field management software for the construction industry, announced it has raised an additional $33.5 million in funding. Menlo Ventures led the round, with follow-on participation from Brick & Mortar Ventures. Also in the Series C round are Hilti Group and Formation 8. As a result of the latest funding, Tyler Sosin of Menlo Ventures, will join Fieldwire’s board alongside Darren Bechtel of Brick & Mortar. Fieldwire has now raised $40.4 million to date.

aPriori locks in Series C

Concord, Massachusetts-based aPriori, a provider of enterprise product cost management software, has secured $26.8 million in Series C funding. The investors included NewSpring, Autodesk, Gutbrain Ventures, Oyster Angel Fund, PBJ Capital, Sigma Partners and Sigma Prime Ventures.

Fossa scores $8.5 mln Series A

San Francisco-based Fossa, an open source management company, has secured $8.5 million in Series A funding. Bain Capital Ventures and Costanoa Ventures led the round with participation from Norwest Venture Partners.

Mission Bay Capital raises $60 mln for third fund

Mission Bay Capital, an early-stage life science venture firm, has closed its third fund at $60 million. The fund's investors included Astellas Venture Management, Banyan Pacific Capital, Eli Lilly and Company, Mayfield, UC Investments, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Zambon.

OpenSC nets $4 mln seed

OpenSC, an impact venture that was co-founded by WWF-Australia and BCG Digital Ventures, has secured $4 million in seed funding. The investors included Working Capital.

Wellesley, Massachusetts-based Firefly Health, a technology-powered concierge medicine service for average Americans, has secured $10.2 million in Series A funding. F-Prime Capital and Oak HC/FT led the round.
