Echodyne scores $20 mln

Echodyne, a maker of high-performance radars for government and commercial markets, has secured $20 million in financing. The investors included Bill Gates, Madrona Ventures, NEA, Vulcan Capital, Lux Capital and Vanedge Capital.

GSK to acquire Sitari

GlaxoSmithKline has agreed to acquire Sitari Pharmaceuticals, a developer of a treatment for celiac disease. No financial terms were disclosed. Sitari was incubated at COI Pharmaceuticals, which was established by Avalon Ventures.

Swiss biotech firm Anokion grabs $40 mln

Anokion SA, a Swiss biotechnology company, has secured $40 million in funding. The investors included Versant Ventures, Novartis Venture Fund, Novo Ventures and Celgene. Also, Anokon has acquired Kanyos Bio Inc. No financial terms were disclosed.

Angelo Gordon racks up $1.3 bln for fourth Asia real estate fund

Angelo Gordon has raised $1.3 billion for its fourth Asia real estate fund, beating its $1 billion target. The firm closed its previous Asia real estate fund at about $850 million in 2016.

JobTeaser inks funding

Paris-based JobTeaser, an online graduate recruiter, has secured 45 million pounds in funding. Highland Europe led the round with participation from Alven, Idinvest Partners, Seventure Partners and Korelya Capital.

Pluang raises $3 mln

Pluang said Sept. 11 that it raised $3 million in Series A funding led by Go-Ventures. Pluang, of Indonesia, is a financial platform that aims to provide users with access to low cost savings products.

Dutchie raises $15 mln

Dutchie said Sept. 11 that it closed a $15 million Series A round led by Gron Ventures. Also participating were Snoop Dog’s Casa Verde Capital, Thirty Five Ventures, Shutterstock founder and CEO Jon Oringer, as well as DoorDash founders and early executives. Dutchie, of Bend, Oregon, provides an online ordering platform that helps consumers buy cannabis products from dispensaries for pickup or delivery.

LiveOak recruits Stewart as venture partner

LiveOak Venture Partners has named David Stewart as a venture partner. Previously, he worked at Trinity Ventures.

Pappas Ventures taps Arfaei as partner

Pappas Ventures has named Alex Arfaei as a partner. Previously, he was a managing director at BMO Capital Markets.
