Provenance said July 18 that it raised additional funding from musician Peter Gabriel as well as Working Capital Fund, which led the round. Also taking part were Digital Currency Group, Merian Ventures and Plug and Play. Financial terms were not disclosed. Provenance, a London blockchain startup, aims to make products and supply chains more transparent.

Accomplice has named Jayni Shah as a principal, according to a spokesperson for the San Francisco-based venture firm. Shah will work out of Accomplice’s San Francisco office. Previously, she was an investor at Menlo Ventures and before that, Shah spent several years at PayPal.

Zoox, a driverless car startup, has raised $500 million in a new round of funding, according to press reports. The round values Zoox at $3.2 billion, TechCrunch said. Mike Cannon-Brookes of Grok Ventures led the round, TechCrunch said.

Seattle-based Seeq Corp, a provider of industrial internet of things advanced analytics software, announced it has raised $23 million in Series B funding. Altira Group led the round with participation by Chevron Technology Ventures, next47, the Siemens-backed global venture firm, Second Avenue Partners and other existing investors. As part of the round, J.P. Bauman, a principal with Altira, has joined the board. Next47 and Chevron will each have observer status. The company, founded in 2013, has now raised about $35 million in total funding.

Andreessen Horowitz has promoted Connie Chan to general partner, according to a post by the Silicon Valley venture firm's co-founder Ben Horowitz. As Horowitz noted, Chan's promotion to GP has set a precedent for the firm as it marks a break from its old "GP no-promotion rule," which he calls "dated and out of place." Chan initially joined the firm as an analyst.

Last week, Mimecast Limited, a publicly traded email and data security company, announced it has acquired venture-backed Ataata Inc, a cyber security training and awareness platform designed to reduce human error in the workplace. Terms of the acquisition weren't disclosed. Late last year, Ataata had raised $3 million in sed funding led by Next Frontier Capital with participation from TEDCO, 2M, SaaS Ventures, ARRA Capital and others. Next Frontier said the acquisition is the firm's first exit.
