MX taps former VC exec Holzman as COO

Lehi, Utah-based MX, a financial data provider, has named Ben Holzman as chief operating officer. Holzman is a former managing director at Bain Capital Ventures.

NEA promotes two and hires one

New Enterprise Associates has promoted Tim Schaller to chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Also, the Silicon Valley-based venture firm has promoted Louis Citron to chief administrative officer and chief legal officer. And, the firm has hired Crystal Huang as a principal on its technology investing team.

VC-backed Duo Security taps Welch as president and COO

Ann Arbor, Michigan-based Duo Security, a cybersecurity company, has named William Welch as president and chief operating officer. Welch's work background includes senior leadership roles at Zscaler, HP, Symantec and Oracle. Duo Security is backed by Meritech Capital Partners, Lead Edge Capital, Geodesic Capital, Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures and True Ventures.

Seattle-based startup studio Madrona Venture Labs has named Ben Elowitz as managing director. Elowitz is the co-founder of Blue Nile and Wetpaint.

Rob Antoniades wins CVCA’s 2018 community leadership award

Robert Antoniades, a general partner at Canadian venture capital firm Information Venture Partners, is the 2018 recipient of the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association‘s (CVCA) Ted Anderson Community Leadership award. Antoniades won the award for his role in co-founding and building the Upside Foundation of Canada, an organization that encourages high-growth companies in Canada to donate stock options or warrants to a charity of their choice. Since its launch in 2013, Upside has signed on more than 200 companies pledging to give back through the platform. PE Hub Canada interviewed Antoniades about Upside's mission in 2015.

Norwest adds new partner from Facebook

Priti Youssef Choksi has joined the consumer internet investment team at Norwest Venture Partners as a partner. Choksi joins Norwest from Facebook where she spent nine years in various executive roles, including leading the company's M&A efforts. Prior to Facebook, she spent six years at Google in strategic partnership roles.

VC-backed Protenus hires CFO

Protenus, a healthcare compliance analytics company, has appointed Brian Holtmeier as chief financial officer. Holtmeier is the former CFO of IBM Security Systems. Protenus is backed by Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Arthur Ventures, Lionbird Venture Capital, Cognosante Ventures and F-Prime Capital Partners.

Allos Ventures adds another MD to team

Indianapolis-based venture firm Allos Ventures has named David Kerr as its third managing director. Previously, Kerr was CEO of Octiv.

VC-backed Infoworks hires marketing VP

Palo Alto, California-based Infoworks, a provider of software solutions for agile data engineering, has named Todd Goldman as vice president of marketing. Previously, Goldman was chief marketing officer at Waterline Data. Infoworks is backed by Centerview Capital Technology, Nexus Venture Partners and Knoll Ventures.
