PIllar adds Hodges as partner

Boston-based venture firm Pillar Companies, which is looking to raise a $100 million inaugural fund, has added Sarah Hodges as partner. Hodges had co-founded Intelligent.ly and is a former adviser with Flybridge Capital Partners. She also previously worked at Pluralsight, Smarterer and FitnessKeeper. She blogged about her joining Pillar on Medium.

BVP ups Harder to VP

Bessemer Venture Partners has promoted Josh Harder to vice president. Prior to joining BVP, Harder worked at Accion Venture Lab and Ruma.

BCG Digital Ventures adds three partners to team

BCG Digital Ventures has expanded its team with three new additions. Joining as partners are Charmaine Eggberry, John Kuolt and Mark Zaleski. BCGDV is the Boston Consulting Group's incubation and investment arm.

Karimah Es Sabar named Quark Venture's new CEO and partner

Canadian life sciences venture capital firm Quark Venture has appointed Karimah Es Sabar as CEO and partner. Previously, Es Sabar was the president and CEO of the Centre for Drug Research and Development, a Vancouver-based drug development and commercialization centre. Founded last year, Vancouver's Quark Venture provides equity financing to biotechnology and health sciences companies. To date, the firm has invested in Aurora Lifesciences Corp and Sitka Biopharma.

Canaan Partners adds two tech partners, opens San Francisco office

Canaan Partners announced in a blog post on Medium that Joydeep Bhattacharyya and Rich Boyle have joined the roster as partners focused on enterprise software investing. Bhattacharyya, who previously was a principal with Shasta Ventures, will focus on SaaS applications and mobile-first solutions. Boyle, a onetime chief executive of LoopNet.com and most recently an operating partner at Khosla Ventures, will look at artificial intelligence and marketplaces. Canaan announced the hires while holding an open house for its new satellite office in the South Park neighborhood of San Francisco. The firm moved into the second-floor space above Shasta Ventures and which was formerly occupied by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

VC-backed Couchbase taps Finter as CMO

Mountain View, California-based Couchbase, an operational database, has named Peter Finter as chief marketing officer. Previously, Finter worked at Gigamon. Couchbase's backers include Sorenson Capital, Accel Partners, Adams Street Partners, Ignition Partners, Mayfield Fund, North Bridge Venture Partners and West Summit.

IVP adds an associate

Late-stage investor IVP, which is currently investing from a $1.4 billion fund, announced Armaan Ali has joined the firm as an associate to focus on enterprise software, Internet and digital media, and mobile investments. He previously was with Qatalyst Partners, a tech-focused boutique investment bank located in San Francisco.

TIMIA taps VC exec for underwriting EVP

TIMIA Capital Corp has named Andrew Abouchar as executive vice president of underwriting. Abouchar, who will be based in Waterloo, Ontario, is a co-founder and partner in Tech Capital Partners Inc, a Canadian venture capital firm.

Veteran technology dealmaker David Johnson has joined Glilot Capital Partners, which specializes in enterprise software and cyber security technology, the Israeli venture capital fund said on Wednesday.
