U.S. life sciences venture capital firm Versant Ventures had announced promotions in its investment team. They include the promotion of Vancouver-based Jerel Davis to managing director. Davis, who joined Versant in 2011, will be responsible for continuing to build the firm's portfolio and market presence in Canada and North America. Versant also announced that Blueline Bioscience, its Toronto-based biotechnology incubator, has appointed Mary Haak-Frendscho as CEO.

Seventure Partners said April 11 that Professor Denise Kelly has joined as an Investment Advisor, while Oxana Kukhaneva has been appointed Venture Partner. Kelly was previously at the Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen where she was a Professor of Immunology and Microbiology. Kukhaneva was with Inventages Venture Capital, where she was Investment Manager of the investment team. Seventure is a subsidiary of Natixis Global Asset Management.

BlueVine, the Palo Alto, California, provider of working-capital financing to small businesses, named Ana Sirbu vice president of finance and strategy, responsible for financial management and growth strategy, including debt capital financing activity. Sirbu joins BlueVine from Google Capital, Google’s growth equity investment fund, where she was a manager and led efforts in FinTech. Sirbu’s resume also includes tenures at Skrill, the London online-payments firm, Silver Lake Partners and UBS.

ViewLift, the New York provider of an over-the-top content distribution and monetization platform, closed an $8 million funding round. Weekapaug Partners and Robert Hisaoka joined previous investors Ted Leonsis, Clark Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Revolution and others. In addition, ViewLift said it named Steven Brown chief revenue officer. Brown joins ViewLift from NeuLion Inc., the Plainview, New York, specialist in digital video broadcasting, distribution and monetization, where he was senior vice president of advertising solutions and platform sales.

CloudHealth Technologies, the provider of a platform on which companies can visualize, optimize and automate their cloud environments, named Larry Begley chief financial officer. Begley joins CloudHealth from .406 Ventures, an early-stage venture-capital firm he co-founded. .406 Ventures participated in CloudHealth’s first two venture-funding rounds, and Begley has served as a CloudHealth director. Both firms are based in Boston. .406 Ventures recently closed its third venture fund, bringing its investment total to nearly $600 million.

Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners, which makes venture capital and private equity investments, announced Jack Young has joined the Hamburg, Germany-based firm as partner in charge of global venture capital operations. Young previously served as managing director at Qualcomm Ventures, where he invested in Fitbit. DTCP also announced the opening of its new U.S. office in Menlo Park, Calif.
