Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) has appointed Barbara Zvan to senior vice president, strategy and risk and chief investment risk officer. In her new role, Zvan will lead Ontario Teachers' strategy and risk team in plan design decision-making and in determining benchmarks and risk appetite. She will also drive responsible investing and climate change risk management. Zvan joined Toronto-based Ontario Teachers, a $154.5 billion pension plan, in 1995.

Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Surface Oncology Inc, a developer of next-generation cancer immunotherapies, has named Dr. Vito J. Palombella as chief scientific officer. Previously, Palombella worked at Infinity Pharmaceuticals where he served as executive vice president and chief scientific officer. Greylock Partners announced this morning that Michael Pao is joining the firm as an entreprenuer-in-residence. Pao joins Greylock after spending the past 4-plus years at Uber, where he most recently was was the head of product on the growth team. Greylock says that as an EIR, Pao will spend his time founding a new marketplace startup and will help advise portfolio companies in business strategy and operations.

Scotiabank has named Scott Bonham to its board of directors. Bonham is a charter member and co-chair of the C100, a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit organization established to support Canadian entrepreneurship. He also helped to build GGV Capital, a U.S. venture capital firm. Bonham's other activities include his roles as co-founder and partner of The Fueling Station, a real estate management company that manages properties serving Canadian entrepreneurs and startups.
