Early-stage investor Hyde Park Venture Partners announced it has hired Tim Kopp, formerly the CMO of email marketing company ExactTarget, as an advisor and venture partner. The firm said Kopp is already a direct investor in five of its portfolio companies. Chicago-based Hyde Park, which focuses on tech companies in the Midwest, raised its inaugural fund in June 2013.

Rovio Entertainment, which is backed by Felicis Ventures, said Friday that its CEO Mikael Hed will be leaving his position. Pekka Rantala will succeed him starting on January 1, 2015. The firm has named Hed as chairman of Rovio Animation Studios. Based in Finland, Rovio is the creator of Angry Birds.

Response Biomedical Corp has appointed Lewis J. Shuster as chairman of its board of directors. Outgoing chairman Dr. Peter A Thompson will remain on the board. Shuster is CEO of U.S. angel investor and strategic advisory firm Shuster Capital. Headquartered in Vancouver, Response Biomedical is a maker of on-site diagnostic tests. ff Venture Capital has promoted Adam Plotkin and Michael Faber to partners, a spokesperson for the New York City-based venture firm confirmed. Plotkin originally joined ff Venture Capital as an entrepreneur-in-residence in June 2013 while Faber came to the firm as a senior advisor in May 2014.
