Viela Bio hauls in $250 mln
Viela Bio, which spun off from MedImmune, the global biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, has raised $250 million in funding. The investors included Boyu Capital, 6 Dimensions Capital, Hillhouse Capital, Temasek and Sirona Capital. AstraZeneca will remain the largest minority shareholder of Viela Bio. Based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Viela Bio will focus on developing medicines for severe autoimmune diseases.
