Cambridge: Venture capital outperforms private equity in third quarter

U.S. venture capital outperformed private equity during the third quarter of 2013, according to new performance numbers from Cambridge Associates. Quarterly returns for both indices were more than 2 percent greater than in the prior period. The Cambridge private equity index rose 5.1 percent in the third quarter, bringing its year-to-date return to 13.3 percent, while the venture capital index returned 6.5 percent and 14 percent year-to-date.
