3i, the European venture capital and buyout firm, has appointed four new professionals to its Paris office, including Domnin de Kerdaniel, who joins from the London office of global private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR).
36-year-old De Kerdaniel is joining the 3i Paris office as associate director to focus on delivering mid-market buyouts in the €25 million to €200 million ($30 to $240 million) range. 3i's French buyout team currently has ten members.
3i has also announced the appointment of three other recruits to the Paris office. Frederic Jannin joins from Apax Partners Worldwide. Alain de Woillemont was previously an executive at Nestle and Jean-David Chamboredon previously worked at Viventures Partners, the former venture capital arm of Vivendi Universal and Cap Gemini.
Guy Zarzavatdjian, managing director at 3i's Paris office, said in an interview with PrivateEquityOnline that the new appointments would enable 3i to “deliver specialised solutions with a specialised team” and that he would be looking to integrate the new appointees before looking at any further recruitment.
With the new appointments, 3i has a team of 25 investment professionals in the Paris office, with ten focusing on buyouts, ten on growth capital and five looking at technology investments.
Zarzavatdjian also confirmed that 3i’s talks to buy Keolis, a transport unit of French railroad company, SNCF, were “pretty far advanced” at this stage.
Last week, 3i announced the appointment of its first external chief executive, appointing Philip Yea of Investcorp, who will join the company in July.
