Advanced Capital has appointed economics professor and energy specialist Alberto Clô as an advisor for energy investments.
The move is another indication of the firm’s intention of expanding its energy focus, following the 2010 launch of the Advanced Capital Global Energy Opportunities Fund, which has commitments to three energy and infrastructure funds.
Clô’s long résumé includes work as an independent director at energy company Iren, infrastructure investment firm Atlantia and Italian cement company Italcementi. He also held the position of Minister of Industry and Foreign trade in the Italian government and is the chief editor of Energia magazine and the author of Oil Economics and Policy.
Clô’s knowledge of energy and infrastructure would provide “another level of insight” during a time of “upheaval and opportunity” in the sectors, said chief executive of Advanced Capital Robert Tomei in a statement.
The niche fund of funds will target buyout, growth and restructuring opportunities through investments in funds across the traditional and alternative energy sectors.
Alongside the AC Global Energy Opportunities Fund, the firm manages three diversified fund of funds ACI, ACII and ACIII and also specialist fund AC Private Equity Real Estate.
Established in 2005, Advanced Capital focuses on corporate investments globally and has approximately €1 billion in assets under management.
