Advent International sells Priory Group for $2.2bn

The firm bought the behavourial health specialist from RBS in 2011 for around £925m.

Advent International has sold Priory Group to US firm Acadia Healthcare Group in a deal understood to be worth around £1.5 billion ($2.2 billion; €2.1 billion), Private Healthcare Investor reports. 

The sale of the group will see Advent receive more 5.36 million of common shares in Acadia, worth around $346 million, and a further £1.275 billion in cash. 

Advent declined to comment on the deal ahead of its completion. 

Priory is best known for the eponymous London hospital that treats individuals with addiction issues. Its patients have included a string of high-profile celebrities.
