Altius hires head of Asia-Pacific

Peter Pfister, former head of Asia-Pacific at Deutsche Bank, has joined Altius’ Singapore office as a partner and head of Asia-Pacific.

Fund of funds manager Altius Associates has hired Peter Pfister as a partner and head of Asia-Pacific, according to a statement.

Pfister joined Altius earlier this month from Deutsche Bank, where he was the head of Asia-Pacific for the bank’s private equity business. Based in Singapore, Pfister will help the firm transition its Asia office to a full-service regulated investment research office with marketing and business development units, an Altius spokesperson told Private Equity International. Previously, the office couldn’t do any fund management or marketing.

At Deutsche Bank, Pfister led a team responsible for business development and investment decisions from Singapore. He also has experience working as a vice president at LGT Capital Partners in Switzerland.

The London-based firm is restructuring its management team as part of an ongoing succession planning process. Chief executive and co-founder John Hess is moving to an executive chairman role and senior executives Brad Young, Jenny Fenton and Eric Warner are taking over as co-CEOs.

Altius also recently expanded its investment team, which performs due diligence, by hiring two senior associates for its Richmond, Virginia and London offices. The firm also hired William Charlton, a lecturer at the University of Texas, to be its US investment chief in March.

Altius is fundraising for its second private equity fund, which is targeting $150 million and is expected to close by year’s end. The fund held a $67 million second close last October. Altius advised about $23 billion in private equity and real assets.
