Australian regulator waves through Asciano buyout: Reuters
Australia's antitrust watchdog has given the green light to a A$9.1 billion (US$6.79 billion) buyout of rail freight giant Asciano Ltd (AIO.AX) by a global consortium led by Canada's Brookfield Asset Management, Reuters reported. Brookfield and Qube Holdings Ltd joined forces earlier this year to make a joint offer for Asciano's port assets only, leaving the railways to China Investment Corp , Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board and Global Infrastructure Partners. The takeover must still be approved by Australia's Foreign Investment Review Board.
