Apptopia, a mobile app intelligence provider, has raised $2.7 million in seed funding. Sound Ventures led the round with participation from other backers that included Mark Cuban.

Biomatics Capital Partners has closed its inaugural fund at $200 million, according to an SEC filing. Based in Seattle, the venture firm was established by Boris Nikolic, a former science adviser to Bill Gates.

St. Louis, Missouri-based venture firm RiverVest Venture Partners has raised over $55 mln for its 3x5 RiverVest Fund II LP, according to an SEC filing. The target is $125 million.

Steve Case and other VCs endorse EscrowUP, new charity platform focused on emerging entrepreneurs

SRS Acquiom, an M&A escrow services provider, has teamed up with Pledge 1% to launch charity platform EscrowUP, according to an announcement on the latter's microsite page. EscrowUP will use escrow interest from funds and various transactions as charity donations for nonprofit organizations that help emerging entrepreneurs gain the tools they need to succeed. So far, SRS Acquiom has received endorsements from Seth Levine and Brad Feld at Foundry Group, Steve Case of Revolution LLC and Ron Cami, former general counsel at TPG, among others.

Sequoia Capital leads Series C round for PatSnap

Intelligence platform PatSnap has secured an undisclosed amount of Series C funding. Sequoia Capital led the round with participation from Shunwei Capital and Qualgro.

Oracle to acquire VC-backed Dyn

Oracle has agreed to buy Manchester, New Hampshire-based Dyn, a provider of internet performance management services. No financial terms were disclosed. Dyn was backed by Pamplona Capital Management and North Bridge Venture Partners & Growth Equity.

San Diego-based biotech company Genalyte Inc has raised $36 million in financing. Khosla Ventures and Redmile Group led the round.

Vanare snaps up $20 mln Series A, changes name to AdvisorEngine

Vanare, a digital wealth management technology platform, has raised $20 million in Series A financing. The investor was WisdomTree Investments Inc. SenaHill Securities LLC advised Vanare on the transaction. Also, Vanare will be rebranding as AdvisorEngine.
