San Francisco-based Maker Media, a platform that connects inventors of products and services with each other, has raised $5 million in funding. The backers included Obvious Ventures, Raine Ventures, Azure Capital, OATV, Floodgate and from Square 1. In addition to the funding, Maker Media has named Rafe Needleman as editor-in-chief to lead its editorial team and content strategy. Previously, Needleman served as editorial director of Yahoo Tech.
