Acousia Therapeutics raises 10 mln euros

Acousia Therapeutics said May 14 that it raised 10 million euros ($11.9 million) in a Series B round led by LBBW Venture Capital and joined by new investors Creathor Ventures and Bregua Corp. Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund (BIVF) and Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau also participated in the round. Acousia, of Tubingen, German, is developing therapies for inner ear-related diseases and pathologies.

Singla joins Citigroup

Rahul Singla has joined Citigroup as a managing director in the financial technology and information services group, a Citi spokesman said. Singla will report to Rick Diamond, global head of Citi’s fintech and information services investment banking group. Singla was previously with Deutsche Bank where he was a managing director and head of fintech investment banking, Americas IBC. Deutsche Bank declined comment.

Ontario Teachers to sell Helly Hansen for $770 mln

Canadian Tire Corp Ltd said May 10 that it agreed to buy the company that owns and operates the Helly Hansen brands and related businesses for C$985 million ($770 million). Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is the seller. Helly Hanson, of Oslo, Norway, is a sportswear and workwear brand. Kirkland & Ellis advised OTPP.

Nikrant named CEO of Washing Systems

Washing Systems LLC said May 10 that Craig Nikrant was named CEO effective immediately. Nikrant succeeds Terry Shoreman who is retiring. Washing Systems is a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors. Nikrant is the former president of PolyOne’s specialty engineered materials business.

Tiger Global made $3 bln from Flipkart investment: Bloomberg

Tiger Global has made about $3 billion on its $1 billion investment in Flipkart Group, Bloomberg is reporting. Tiger Global’s venture capital unit initially invested $9 million in Flipkart in 2009 that grew to $1 billion over several years, ending up with a 20 percent stake, Bloomberg said. Tiger Global sold part of its stake to SoftBank Group last year. Walmart agreed May 9 to buy a majority of Flipkart in a $16 billion deal. Tiger Global will hold a five percent stake in Flipkart after the Walmart transaction, the story said.

Cove Hill to invests in Gamma Technologies

Cove Hill Partners has agreed to invest in Gamma Technologies. Financial terms weren’t announced. TA Associates will continue to remain the largest shareholder in the company. Gamma, of Westmont, Illinois, provides engineering simulation software. Goodwin Procter LLP provided legal counsel to TA Associates and Gamma Technologies. Ropes & Gray LLP acted as legal counsel to Cove Hill Partners.

Ringdahl joins Cimbria Capital as an operating partner

Cimbria Capital said May 9 that Daniel Ringdahl has joined as an operating partner. Ringdahl is currently president and CEO of Florida Drilling.

Platinum closes $1.3 bln buy of Wyndham European vacation rentals business

Wyndham Worldwide Corp said May 9 that it completed its previously announced sale of its European vacation rentals business to Platinum Equity LLC for about $1.3 billion.
