Ares EIF Group has invested in the construction of Birdsboro Power, a brownfield 488-MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle generation facility located in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Financial terms weren’t announced. CIT Bank, GE Energy Financial Services and Investec arranged non-recourse debt financing for the project. Ares Management LP acquired Ares EIF Group in 2015.

Sycamore Partners said Feb. 24 that it acquired The Limited's brand and other related intellectual property assets. Sycamore said it bought the Limited’s intellectual property through a competitive auction fun by The Limited as part of its bankruptcy process. Financial terms weren’t announced but Reuters reported that Sycamore bid $26.8 million.

Starwood Capital Group and Vencom have sold Bromma Blocks to CBRE Global Investment Partners. Financial terms weren’t announced. Bromma Blocks is a a retail park and shopping galleria in Stockholm, Sweden. Cushman & Wakefield, Mannheimer Swartling and PwC served as advisors on the transaction.

Congenica said Feb. 27 that it raised 8 million pounds ($10 million) in a Series B round. Existing investors, Cambridge Innovation Capital plc and Amadeus Capital Partners, participated alongside new investor, Parkwalk Advisors. Congenica, of the U.K., provides clinical genome analysis technology.

Carlyle Group said Feb. 23 that it raised about $2.5 billion for its fourth distressed and special situations fund, Carlyle Strategic Partners IV (CSP IV). The fund invests in the debt and equity of companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia experiencing financial, operational or cyclical distress. Carlyle said CSP IV closed at its hard cap and is more than triple the size of the prior fund.

C3Nano Inc said Feb. 22 that it raised $15 million in equity financing led by existing investor GSR Ventures. New investors included Nissha Printing Co Ltd, Xinjiang Guoli Minsheng Equity Investment Co Ltd, as well as other investors including Phoenix Venture Partners, and several undisclosed investors. C3Nano develops transparent conductive inks and films for the touch sensor and display industry.
