Goodman, GSO Capital co-founder, is retiring from Blackstone

Blackstone said Aug. 29 that Bennett Goodman, co-founder of GSO Capital Partners LP, is stepping down at the end of this year. He will remain chairman of GSO’s business development company and will serve as a senior adviser to the firm. Dwight Scott, who was named president of GSO in 2017, will continue to oversee the management of the business.

GE Capital to sell PK AirFinance to Apollo, Athene Holding

Apollo Global Management LLC and Athene Holding Ltd agreed to buy PK AirFinance from GE Capital’s Aviation Services. Financial terms weren’t announced. Apollo is buying the PK AirFinance aircraft lending platform, while Athene will acquire PK AirFinance’s existing portfolio of loans.

Forever 21 preparing for Chapter 11 filing: Bloomberg

Forever 21 Inc is planning to file for bankruptcy protection and is working with a team of advisers to help it restructure its debt, Bloomberg reported. Forever21, a fashion retailer, is currently focused on securing DIP financing to take the company into chapter 11, the story said.

Wing Resources IV LLC said Aug. 28 that it raised $100 million in commitments from NGP. Wing IV is a Permian Basin focused mineral and royalty acquisition company.

Penha named CFO of Verdemed

Verdemed Holdings Inc said Aug. 29 that Alexandre Penha was named chief financial officer, while David Beatty was appointed as a member of its board. Verdemed is a Canadian medical cannabis company that raised $12 million in venture funding April, PitchBook said.

HGGC said Aug. 29 that it made 12 new hires across its operations and investment divisions, while also promoting several executives.

Marlin Equity buys Influenster

Marlin Equity Partners said Aug. 28 that it acquired Influenster. Financial terms weren’t announced. Influenster is a product discovery and reviews platform. Influenster raised $8 million in funding from Ebates in 2016, PitchBook said.

Aquiline-backed ClearCourse buys BrightOffice

ClearCourse Partnership LLP, which is backed by Aquiline Capital Partners, has acquired BrightOffice. Financial terms weren’t announced. BrightOffice provides hosted, enterprise customer relationship management software to several different industries.
