FitBionic Raises $2.2 Mln

FitBionic has closed a $2.2 million funding round led by KMG Capital Partners, with High Country Venture and the Colorado Institute for Drug, Device and Diagnostic Development. Boulder, Colo.-based FitBionic is a prosthetics company that focuses on cultivating healthy lifestyles for amputees.

Aisle50 Raises $2.6 Mln

Aisle50 said Wednesday it raised a $2.6 million Series A financing led by Origin Ventures. August Capital also participated. Chicago-based Aisle50 sells digital offers from consumer packaged goods companies directly to consumers, who redeem them at bricks-and-mortar grocery retailers using a loyalty card or phone number. Other Aisle50 investors include Ron Conway, Yuri Milner, and Plug & Play Ventures.

CIT Provides $61.8 Mln loan to Alterna Capital

CIT Group said Wednesday that it provided a $61.8 million loan to a portfolio company of Alterna Capital Partners to finance its buy of three 50,000 DWT ECO-design Medium Range (MR) IMO II/III product/chemical tankers from STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co. The tankers are owned by Sterling Ocean Shipping, which is majority owned and controlled by Alterna. CIT Maritime Finance structured and facilitated the transaction.

Bayside Capital to Buy Sareb Property Portfolio

Bayside Capital, the credit affiliate of H.I.G. Capital, has agreed to buy the first pool of real-estate assets sold by Sareb, known as Project Bull. Sareb will retain a 49% stake while Bayside will have 51%. The deal values the portfolio at €100m and allows Sareb to participate in future gains. The Project Bull portfolio is comprised of residential developments, more specifically 939 homes located in: Andalusia (275), Canary Islands (129), Cantabria (5), Catalonia (38), Balearic Islands (19), Madrid (86), Murcia (44) and the Community of Valencia (343). The portfolio also includes 750 ancillary premises (parking spaces and storage rooms) and one retail unit.

Hickey Joins Ares Management as Operating Advisor

William Hickey, the former Chairman and CEO of Sealed Air Corp., has joined Ares Management as an Operating Advisor in the firm's private equity group. He will assist in the sourcing and evaluation of new investment opportunities.

Platinum Equity to Buy Bridge Terminal Transport

Maersk Inc., a subsidiary of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, has agreed to sell Bridge Terminal Transport to Platinum Equity. Financial terms weren't announced. The deal is expected to be completed on or about Sept. 1. Bridge Terminal Transport is a marine drayage company in the United States.

Actis said Wednesday it has acquired Paycorp for $95 million. Company management also invested. The seller was Transaction Capital. Paycorp is a payments business in South Africa.

NXT Capital said Wednesday it provided $20 million in senior secured financing to recapitalize 1-800-Radiator & A/C. Benicia, Calif-based 1-800-Radiator & A/C is a North American distributor of aftermarket automotive heating and cooling parts.
