Tonka Bay Equity Partners, the Minnesota-based PE firm, has named Shane Slominski a principal with the firm. Slominski joined Tonka Bay in 2006 as a Senior Associate and was promoted to Director in 2007. Prior to joining Tonka Bay, Slominski was a Manager in the Minneapolis office of Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Apogee Retail LLC, the secondhand goods retailer Golden Gate Capital invested in during 2007, has been mostly sold by the private equity firm to Savers Inc., a strategic buyer. The PE firm will continue to hold a small stake in the business. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed; McColl Partners’ Brian Davis and Lorin J. DeMordaunt worked on the transaction.

Clearview Capital’s Senior Care Centers of America struck a deal to acquire the adult daycare division of South Jersey Health Systems. The transaction marks the seventh buy for Senior Care since Clearview Capital acquired it in 2005.

AxioMed Spine, which manufactures artificial disc replacements for medical patients, received $500,000 in the form of a loan from the state of Ohio to continue developing an artificial cervical spine disc. The company has raised $56 million to date from investors including Siemens Venture Capital GmbH, Aisling Capital, Fidelity Biosciences, Kearny Venture Partners and OrbiMed Advisors.

Vology Data Systems, the Florida-based distributor of networking and telecommunications commitment, has raised $32.5 million through a combination of equity capital, mezzanine debt and senior bank debt. The growth equity investment was led by LLM Capital Partners, a Boston-based private investment firm. Banyan Mezzanine Fund and Harbert Mezzanine Partners provided funding in the form of subordinated debt. Bank of America renewed the Company’s existing senior revolver facility and Hyde Park Capital served as the investment banker and exclusive financial advisor to Vology.
