Blackstone loses co-head of finance

Rahul Agarwal has left Blackstone after eight years to join asset management firm CIFC.

The Blackstone Group’s private equity back office will have to do without its co-head of finance Rahul Agarwal, who joined  loan specialist asset manager CIFC as chief financial officer on 21 December.

A 19-year financial industry veteran, Agarwal was co-head of finance for the asset management firm's private equity division. While there he was responsible for transaction structuring, investor reporting as well as the preparation and analysis of financial statements, according to a CIFC statement.

Other duties that he performed during his eight year spell with Blackstone include: tax compliance and reporting, internal controls, reporting to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and implementing technology solutions.

Before his time at Blackstone, Agarwal, a certified public accountant, held positions at Deloitte, Citigroup and Ernst & Young.

Blackstone declined to comment and Agarwal was not immediately available for comment.
